The probe into the university drug scene in Slovenia and its comparison with the situation in the Czech Republic

| Description | This work is in the Czech Republic one of the first attempts to compare the extent of use of addictive substances in the academic population of two different states of the European Union. Using an anonymous questionnaire survey was conducted to probe the drug scene, University of Ljubljana, the data was statistically analyzed and compared with results of similar studies carried out in 2006 among students of Masaryk University Brno (Kachlík, Havelková). It appeared that among students, University of Ljubljana more men than women have used marijuana in the last month before asking. On the contrary, failed to demonstrate that women are more for occasional consumers of alcohol. Also, is not confirmed, that women exceed men in the range of use depressant drugs without a prescription. These findings correspond with the current trend in the use of drugs, where there is a gradual leveling out differences between the sexes. A comparison of the drug scene, University of Ljubljana, and Masaryk University Brno revealed easy availability of opiates for Slovenian university, the higher the frequency of consumption of cannabis and stimulant drug and volatile substances. University students in Brno back often consume hallucinogens, particularly hallucinogenic mushrooms. Almost all persons in both samples ever drank in their life alcohol. Most popular illegal drugs both university students have become cannabis, particularly marijuana. Taking drugs is currently present in the university population, to the extent that is not negligible. Bearing in mind that many university students after graduation in their professions operate on youth and that represent the public authority, then these findings are particularly alarming. |
