Description In the novel Do not go so quickly into that dark night (2000), by António Lobo Antunes, the process of fragmentation can be observed on these two levels: 1) the level of the discourse, through various ellipses, syntactic and verbal ruptures, blanks, melting voices, times and spaces etc., 2) the level of the story, through certain motifs which inform about fragmentation, such as mirror, water or photography. From this point of view, the present article focuses on various types of fragmentary discourse, as well as on motifs related to the process of fragmentation, emphasising the effects this process has upon the interpretation of the book.
