Description | The poster introduces the CPV Video Study of English project that is being carried out by the Educational Research Centre, Faculty of Education, Masaryk University, Czech Republic. The project aims to describe and analyse the current state of teaching English at lower-secondary schools in the Czech Republic. It is designed as explorative research of realised curriculum. Teaching is seen as providing opportunities to learn (Seidel & Prenzel 2006) that enable pupils to become engaged in the subject matter. The poster focuses in more detail on the description of the analysis of the approaches to teaching culture and their observation in English classes with special focus on observing enhancing intercultural communicative competence. It introduces the system of categories developed for observing teaching culture in English classes videotaped in the project of CPV Video Study of English and the results of the analysis of the sample of 79 videotaped lessons. |
