Description The situation of Romany citizens is greatly complicated and unsatisfactory not only within the Czech Republic, but generally in Europe, with its more than 10 million Romanies. Despite of that fact that this number, compared to the overall number of European citizens, is not too high, many countries are not able to implement more complex and wide changes of the approach to this minority, nor adopt measures that would improve life perspectives of Romanies. There persists a tendency to segregate Romanies, in both education and social work. Although this approach is not legal, we still talk about it as if it existed, or could exist.
