Description | The contribution analyses the complexity of interpersonal interaction in live text commentary (LTC). LTC is a new genre of online journalism which is defined by the special circumstances of the production of the written text" it is produced and made available online in real tme, simultaneously with the event that it describes. [...] Thanks to its complexity, LTC stands at the intersection between traditional mass media communication and innovative computer-mediated communication, combining elements of both. The interaction can best be described as mediated quasi-interaction: it is a mass media event that, by enabling the audience to provide instant feedback, draws heavily on the model of interpersonal face-to-face interaction, yet remains limited to an interaction between members of a virtual group who do not know each other. They thus interact in an indirect, mediated manner. |
