Description | A volume of the long series presents other documents concerning the life and work of the Protestant parish priest D. Sloboda (1809-1888) in eastern Moravian Rusava. He belonged to significant figures of the Czech-Slovak relationships in the 19th century. The volume contains 170 letters by 16 persons: extraordinary personalities of national importance, such as Ľudovít Štúr or Ján Kollár, and regional figures, for instance the teacher Lorenc in Kroměříž or the unsuccessful writer Rozehnal in Hulín. The letters from 1836-1884 reflect their personal scholarly, literary, linguistic, folklore and national interests at various social levels and , as a whole, also their participation in the genesis of the modern Czech and Slovak nations. |
