Description Gender preferences for children and their implications for fertility decisions in the Czech Republic are investigated in this article. We analyse the third and the fourth births in order in relation to sex of previously born children and attitudes of (potential) parents to an importance of having a son or a daughter. Even though we observe a slight indication of preference to have both a son and a daughter, we find the Czech society gender indifferent as for the sex composition of children in family.
