Description The CPV Video Web is an e-learning environment that should help to interconnect the theory and practice of teaching and learning through videoclips from real lessons (videotaped in the project CPV Videostudies), and so prepare prospective teachers for their teaching practice. The CPV Video Web of English will be developed within our dissertation thesis. Dissertation research will assess the diagnostic competence of prospective English teachers, defined as an ability to see, describe, explain and predict what is happening in a classroom. The partial aims of my thesis are to operationalize the diagnostic competence for research purposes, to create a diagnostic module of the Video Web that will allow us to measure it, and to contribute to the validation of this research tool by comparing the results of student teachers at the beginning and at the end of their studies, and those of more experienced teachers
