Description The paper presents one way of map skills and knowledge acquirement (map reading, analysis interpretation, making and application of map) that should be achieved by pupils of basic school. Using Geographic Information Systems potential and an interactive board as a teaching equipment of current education is one way of teaching in geography. It enables an active work with cartographic material. Geography teacher has the possibility to keep the didactic principles along with using modern information technologies mentioned above and to train pupils for geographical knowledge and skills with emphasis on their understanding, analysis, evaluation and practical application.
