Description The theoretical part is focused on the definition of the terms health, health literacy and education to health, as well as the issue of First Aid, its definition, aims, and division. It describes selected methods of First Aid. There is also a chapter on the definition of the curriculum, selected curricula documents – general educational programmes and key competences. The empirical part of the work consists of four surveys – analysis of selected curricula documents (general educational programmes for preschool, elementary, grammar school and chosen elementary schools education). Parts of the analysis are also possible implementations of the given issue into school educational programmes. The second analysis is focused on the determination of the future teachers’ training in the field of First Aid at selected Pedagogical Faculties both in the Czech Republic and abroad. The third and fourth analyses cover the findings of the level of knowledge of the pedagogical students in the field of First Aid that was done in two ways: a) by a test, and b) with the help of selected video clips representing chosen states in need for First Aid. The method of knowledge testing by video clips was created by the author of the thesis, it had not been seen before. The findings showed lower level of foreknowledge than expected (i.e. 75%), which points out the inadequatepreparation of students within the field of First Aid. The empirical part consists also of recommendations for improving the current situation, especially recommendations focused on teaching at the Pedagogical Faculty of Masaryk University, including the suggestions for newly outlined subjects of First Aid, based on constructivist and cooperative theory of teaching, and on more effective methods of teaching, such as skills creating, situational method, etc.
