Description Developing pre-readers literacy in pupils with special educational needs is more demanding for those who teach literature. In the case of literary-educational activities in the institutionalized environment of a nursery school it is necessary to look for such solutions that would make collective reading a real joining element. The case study analyzes work with childrens books in a special nursery school (the way of working with literature in nursery schools, the choice of books for work with children and reaction of recipients, preparedness of pedagogical workers, etc.).
