Description Geography education reflects new situation in 'information' society, the new expectation and needs. Geoinformation technologies (geographic information systems, remote sensing and global position systems) have become the important parts of many branches of science and economic functions of the society in the practical terms. What is still virtually neglected is education in information and geo-information technologies for wide population, especially for pupils. The situation that can be defined, with a little exaggeration, as a clash between 'digital' student and 'analogue' teacher is still frequent. This chapter presents some possibilities how to use geoinformation technologies, especially geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing in geography education. The study also discusses the advantages and limitations of their usage, possible barriers to the successful use of remote sensing or GIS. It also introduces some resources for teachers and students that can help them to become familiar with these technologies.
