Description Sonochemical reactions of the stoichiometric mixtures of different M(acac)3 complexes led to amorphous nanoscopic particles. The phase composition of the mixed metal oxides can be controlled by the starting stoichiometry of the precursor complexes. Sonolysis of mixtures of Fe(acac)3 and Y(acac)3(H2O)3 led to amorphous Y-Fe-O nanopowders. The thermally induced crystallization was studied by TG/DSC, evolved gas analysis (EGA), high-temperature XRD, and Mössbauer spectroscopy. Depending on the Y/Fe starting stoichiometric ratio, the single phase perovskite YFeO3 (YIP) or garnet Y3Fe5O12 (YIG) can be synthesized.
