WHO estimates that about 84 million people die of cancer in the years 2005 to 2015 without intervention measures. According to data from IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) listed in GLOBOCAN 2008 (Cancer Incidence and Mortality in the World 2008) worldwide is mentioned about 12.7 million new cancer cases and about 7.6 million deaths from cancer in 2008. Epidemiological studies show that of 30 to 40% of cancer prevention can be prevented with diet, physical activity and maintaining a good body weight. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables reduces the risk of malignancies in the population. The anticarcinogenic protective nutrients in the diet include selenium, folic acid, vitamin E, vitamin B 12, flavonoids, antioxidants such as carotenoids, lycopene, lutein, cryptoxanthin. Ascorbic acid has limited effects when administered orally, but when intravenous administration is beneficial contribution. Consumption of probiotics as part of the effectiveness of the immune system, change the intestinal microflora may interfere with the process of carcinogenesis and it opens up the possibility of dietary modification in the development of cancer. Studies show the incidence of cancer in changing diet, nutrition is important to raise awareness of the population that changes have led to an improvement in how the current status of nutrition and health. |
