The objectives of the research presented herein are (1) to identify cultural values and determine their possible influence on differences in communication styles, learning and teaching discourses across various cultural settings (e.g. the Czech vis-a-vis the U.S. communicative discourses in the classroom setting; students’ styles of communication and learning in comparison to teachers’ styles of communication and teaching); (2) to use the data and knowledge obtained as defined in point 1 to test compatibility between cultural conditions, i.e. cultural values, and communication styles, learning and teaching discourses.
