Description In the paper, methodological approaches are introduced to the empirical analysis of the curricular reform, which is viewed as a specific kind of education change. Various approaches are analysed (of authors such as Künzli, Gundem, Fullan etc.). In the focus lie attempts to operationalize the concept of implementation (i.e. the process of introducing certain ideas into practice through concrete procedures). The problem of (non)functioning or (non)efficiency of a curricular reform is also addressed, with regard to the often unrealistic expectations that are connected with this type of education change.
