Description | The paper deals with development of geography and history education in the Czech lands. The development of both school subjects is divided in several periods which are defined by the most important curriculum reforms. Based on analysis of curriculum documents and other relevant scholarly literature the authors briefly describe the changes of aims and contents of geography and history education and try to interpret why these changes occurred. The analysis has shown that geography and history education, since they had been established, were objects to many curriculum reforms. In many aspects, influences of these reforms on both studied school subjects are similar. The authors describe and compare these influences. The research highlights theoretical and methodological potential of curriculum studies. |
