The project is an internal part and continuation of a dissertation focused on quality of life of parents of chronically and seriously ill children and possibilities of its influence form the point of view of special education. The theoretical analysis of the topic of quality of life of parents of chronically and seriously ill children and its impact on family was done in the year 2005 and 2006. Currently there is a research in the form of questionnaire among parents of children in active treatment being done and simultaneously there are semi-structured interviews realized with counselors in various counseling services of non-medical nature. Education of these children is one of key factors of their quality of life as well as QOL of their parents. For children it is a possibility to meet with peers and stay in contact with the normal life and for parents it means elimination of their worry about the child’s future after the illness is over. The international research conducted in frame of the project TIMSIS, the author is a part of, shows that teachers in the Czech Republic feel insufficiently prepared and afraid to accept such a child in their class. Improving and fostering their knowledge in the field of methodology, individual approaches to education and creation of IEP would help them to educate the children appropriately. Foreign literature focused on the education of this group of pupils would undergo a content analysis and comparison with the situation in the Czech Republic. Consequently, recommendation would be done concerning the education and preparation of special educators as well as teachers in mainstream schools.
