Popis | The world is undergoing dynamic development, changing the need for knowledge in the labour market in connection with the development of information technology. Overall, therefore, it is necessary to adapt to the conditions of the 21st century. The education system should reflect these new demands. It is why involving remote sensing (RS) in education is appropriate. Remote sensing is a multidisciplinary field that connects geography, biology, physics, mathematics and computer science. This young technology sector which combines science and new technologies does not yet occupy a proper place in schools, although it is a fast-growing sector with a high demand for skilled staff. Studies to date show that images from drones, aeroplanes and satellites, unlike the classic map production commonly used in schools, represent a picture of the real world. At present, RS images are no longer new to students. They can quickly orient themselves in them. RS in schools often encounters problems like the complexity of working with images and inadequate hardware or software. These complications discourage educators from using these methods in teaching. However, the benefits of using RS images for teaching geography are not negligible. The thesis emphasizes the multidisciplinarity of RS, which provides unusual teaching opportunities, thanks to which there is a comprehensive interconnection of scientific knowledge and the development of scientific literacy. These methods can demonstrate global changes in near real-time: deforestation, fires, desertification, water pollution and rising temperature, melting glaciers, drought and much more. The ability to interpret the image allows for a more comprehensive understanding of the Earth. The ability to interpret images in false colours enables us to see new opportunities, threats and needs of the world. The study presents these new perspectives in conjunction with a list of points supporting the importance of using RS in schools. |
