Popis The identity of a teacher of vocational education and training can be considered specific, because two components of the teacher's professional identity are intertwining to a greater extent than in the identity of other teachers. Specifically, the professional expert identity and the professional teacher identity are intertwining and represents boundary crossing. This is related to the pathways in which the complex identity of the VET teacher is formed. Moreover, this leads to the possibility of dividing the competences of VET teacher into three areas: (1) competences related to the field in which the VET teacher is an expert, (2) to the general pedagogical and didactic competencies, and (3) to the branch-didactic competencies. VET teachers can use these competencies and their combination to manage potential problem situation. The presented text focuses on the interweaving of the professional identity and on the specification of the associated competencies together with the possibilities of their development and application by VET teachers according to relevant literature review.
