The aim of the audit was to find out how academic and non-academic employees perceive their working conditions. It focused on various aspects of working life, from work organisation, communication, team management, opportunities for growth, benefits and the possibility of combining work and family. The audit is part of the activities of the HR Award and will become the basis for ensuring that equal opportunities and good working conditions do not just remain on paper. The results will serve as a basis for the development of the University's Gender Equality Plan (GEP MU) for the period 2025-2028, which is currently under preparation.

The audit was conducted in cooperation with the external Gender Information Centre NORA (GIC NORA) and ran from April to July 2024, in accordance with the requirements defined by the Gender Audit Standard of the Government Office of the Czech Republic and according to the methodological guidelines of the MU Rector's Office.

The following areas were included in the equal opportunities audit:

  • Transforming organisational culture
  • Combining work and parenthood/private life
  • Recruitment, selection and promotion
  • Equal representation of women and men in management positions
  • Measures against sexual harassment and other forms of gender-based violence
  • Gender dimension in research
  • Study and student population

Audit progress:

Four methods of data collection and analysis were used in the audit:

  • Analysis of internal documents and other supporting materials, including faculty and university websites
  • Quantitative data collection at the faculty (questionnaire survey)
  • Qualitative part in the form of 12 individual interviews and 3 focal discussions. The aim was to gain a deeper understanding of the key thematic areas. The focus group discussions were attended by representative academic and non - academic staff members , carers of a child or other loved one and academic and non-academic managers. Individual interviews were conducted online and in person, and people on maternity or parental leave and faculty management representatives and representatives were also represented.

The results of the audit provided a comprehensive overview of the current situation from the perspective of persons employed at the Faculty of Education. The audit resulted in recommendations on areas that the Faculty of Education will continue to address in the future as part of the overall improvement of the working environment and the establishment of equal opportunities among those employed.
