Dies academicus 2024: two awards for representatives from the Faculty of Education

On 23 May 2024, the Great Hall of Karel Engliš at the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University hosted a festive assembly of the academic community Dies academicus, associated with the awarding of the prestigious MU Rector's Prizes. This year, among the awardees there were representatives of our faculty.

Award for significant artistic achievement - MgA. Eduard Tomaštík, Ph.D.

In the category of the Award for a Significant Artistic Achievement was awarded to MgA. Eduard Tomaštík, Ph.D., from the Department of Music Education. Dr. Tomaštík received the award for the modern world premiere of the Christmas Mass "Missa Nativitatis" by Baroque composer Philipp Jacob Rittler. The project involved a comprehensive transcription of the score from historical sources into contemporary notation, its careful staging and a festive performance.

Rittler's work was performed on 9 September 2023 as the closing concert of the Olomouc Baroque Festival. This concert was recorded by Czech Television and Czech Radio. Expert reactions and reviews confirmed the high level of performance and the importance of this project.

Innovation in Teaching Award - team from the Department of Education

Another significant award was given to a team from the Department of Education, which received the Rector's Award for Innovation in Teaching. The team consisting of Mgr. Lucie Škarková, Ph.D., doc. Mgr. Jana Kratochvílová, Ph.D., Mgr. Martin Fico and Mgr. Michaela Pulkrábová were awarded for their long-term contribution in the field of development of competence for entrepreneurship in students of teaching at PED MUNI.

Since 2016, the entire team has been dedicated to an innovative approach to teaching, which includes not only theoretical preparation, but also practical involvement of students in projects with real social impact. Their main activities include the organization of the Entrepreneurship Day, where learners present their projects, share their experiences and develop their entrepreneurial competences. The team has created new courses ("Projects as a tool for the development of entrepreneurial competences" and "Projects and Entrepreneurship in Education") that allow learners to have a hands-on experience of creating and implementing projects, both on the university campus and in primary and secondary schools.
