Description Abstract This paper is aimed at presenting preliminary results of a pilot study from an analysis made to the coursebook for English teaching Welcome to the English Language used in public schools in El Salvador to analyze the cultural content of the book. A quick overlook at the text augurs a predominance of elements pertaining to the local culture in detriment of the target culture. Results show that the elements of the target culture include the United States only, omitting aspects of other cultures that can be regarded as target such as England, Canada, or Australia. This study is aimed at analyzing the cultural elements identified in the coursebook.
