Description | In the paper, the author focuses on the classification of the musical icon as one of the important semantic starting points of classical music from the perspective of Peirce's general semiotics and musical semiotics, brings its critique in terms of its metacharacter changes into other types of signs (index, symbol). On the issue of the pragmatic relationship between the musical sign and the recipient as its user, he draws on the partial results of empirical musical sociological researches into the attitudes of Czech university students to classical and especially contemporary art music conducted by the author with research team of the Department of Music at the Masaryk University in Brno in 2012–2016. |
