Description | An active participation of people in political, cultural and social life goes hand in hand with a democratic approach to language and its regulations. The lecture discusses following topics: Is it possible to teach language "democratically"? Is it even possible to get objective and reliable information about language? Does one remain at the mercy of self-appointed standardizers and one-sided language advisors (portals) who push their way to the top of a Google search? Can one also possibly compare the target language German with one's own (source language) in order to recognize parallels and/or differences? The participants had the possibility to take part in the lecture interactively (via mentimeter). Examples were taken from the specialized corpus of the SEAH project and InterCorp. |
