Description Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most often cancers in the world and it is the second main reason of cancer related deaths in Western countries. Today, several studies striving for finding of new predictive and prognostic biomarkers, that would enable better response to therapy, exist. MiRNAs are small non-coding molecules of RNA, which post-transcriptionally regulate gene expression. They affect several biological processes including differenciation, apoptosis, cell cycle, proliferationo or metastasing. Several studies have proved deregulation of miRNAs in different types of cancers including CRC. These molecules can act as oncogenes or tumor suppressors. Although different expression of miRNAs between tumor tissue and healthy adjacent tissue has been described, their precise role in pathogenesis of CRC is still not known. The main aim of this study was to describe the function of miR-215 in pathogenesis of CRC since deregulated expression of this miRNA has been published earlier.
