CONDITIONS AND CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION TO BACHELOR'S DEGREE PROGRAMS IN ENGLISH
AT THE FACULTY OF EDUCATION
MASARYK UNIVERSITY
VALID FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026
Article 1: General conditions for admission and enrolment
(1) Applicants file and pay for the electronic application for study through the Information System of Masaryk University between 1 September 2024 – 31 March 2025.
(2) Applicants are required to submit a legalized copy of documents certifying completion of secondary education and the confirmation of accreditation of the secondary school.
Legalised copy stands for:
- notary notified copy,
- verified by superlegalization or apostille (if superlegalization or apostille is necessary check here) and
- notarized translation (if the document is not in English or Czech).
(3) Applicants are further required to:
- submit a CV in English;
- submit a cover letter in English (max. 500 words) in which they explain why they are interested in the study programme they are applying for;
- submit confirmation of accreditation of the secondary school;
- submit English language proficiency certificate (BA programme English Language for Education only);
- take part in admission examination in English.
Article 2: Admission examination
a. English Language for Education
(a) Applicants must demonstrate their English language skills at B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (band 5.5 or higher in IELTS; score 72 or higher in TOEFL; score 90 or higher in Duolingo test) by submitting a certificate proving their English skills.
(b) Applicants who have completed previous studies in English speaking countries (e. g. Australia, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom), need not submit the Language Certificate. In other cases (if the study was conducted in English), applicants must provide a certificate from the secondary school or university stating that the language of instruction was English.
(c) The first round of online Interviews will be held before 15 January 2025, the second round will take place before 15 April, 2025. The applicants will be informed about the exact date and time in advance. The online interview will be 10-15 minutes long and will take place on Zoom or Skype (both audio and video are required). The topics will be previous experience with English language learning and motivation to enter a teacher education study programme.
(d) The applicant is responsible for their internet connection.
b. Education for Diversity and Inclusion
(a) Applicants must demonstrate their English language skills at minimum B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Language. A certificate proving their English skills is recommended. Applicants who have completed previous studies in English speaking countries (e. g. Australia, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom) or at secondary school or university with English language curriculum (their study was conducted in English) need not submit a Language Certificate.
(b) The first round of online Interview will be held before 15 January 2025, the second round will take place before 15 April, 2025. The applicants will be informed about the exact date and time in advance. The online interview will be 10-15 minutes long and will take place on Zoom or Skype (both audio and video are required). During the interviews the applicants will be asked to talk about their motivation, previous experience, and attitudes concerning the topics of diversity and inclusion in education.
(c) The applicant is responsible for their internet connection.
Article 3: Conditions for waiving the admission examination
(1) Admission examination may be waivered for applicants admitted to the same study programme of the Faculty of Education, MU for previous academic year.
Article 4: Assessment Criteria
a. English Language for Education
(a) The online interview will be 10-15 minutes long and will take place on Zoom or Skype (both audio and video are required). The topics will be previous experience with English language learning and motivation to enter a teacher education study programme.
(b) Maximum of 20 points will be awarded during the interview for the demonstrated level of English (vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, comprehension of spoken language).
(c) Obtaining 12 points shall be the necessary precondition of admission.

(a) The online interview will be 10-15 minutes long and will take place on Zoom or Skype (both audio and video are required). During the interviews the applicants will be asked to talk about their motivation, previous experience, and attitudes concerning the topics of diversity and inclusion in education.

Article 6: Final provisions
(1) The applicant should submit all the above-mentioned documents in Czech or in English through the electronic application and send them by post to address: Pedagogicka fakulta MU, Porici 623/7, 603 00, Brno, Czech Republic. Deadline is 31 March 2025.
(2) Based on the result of the admission examination and assessment of the officially certified copies of all abovementioned documents the applicant may or may not be admitted to study. The assessment of the documents is performed by a committee (Admission Board) composed of members appointed by the Dean of the faculty.
Article 7: Force and Validity
(1) This document was endorsed by the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University on 04. 06. 2024.
