Description One of the main goals of the European multilingualism policy is to support the acquisition of at least two foreign languages by every European citizen. In order to achieve this goal, each country must accordingly adapt its policy of foreign language teaching. The paper provides a brief excursion into history and the actual state of foreign language teaching in Czech schools. It takes a critical look at the Czech multilingualism policy in matters of foreign language learning.
