Keywords underwater discharge; antibacterial effect; silver; polypropylene
Description An underwater plasma discharge is used for surface activation of polypropylene fabrics with subsequent immobilisation of silver particles. The „Textile fabrics – Determination of antibacterial activity – Agar diffusion plate test“ was used to study the antibacterial properties of the treated PP nonwoven textile against S. aureus and E. coli bacteria. Distribution of the dispersed particles were measured by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and the chemical nature of crystals was confirmed by the Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis of the sample.
