Description Using qualitative research method of narrative interview in connection to the research of border regions or rather with the regions where Germans formerly lived offers new possibilities for geographical research. In the narrative interview questions are not determined but formed during natural communication between interviewer and respondent. In the case of our research of socio-economic consequences of the transfer of Germans from the Svitavy region witnesses were asked to tell their stories. The research concerned on the witnesses, who have lived in the region during the Second World War or have settled the region afterwards. Information provided by them are therefore affected by a subjective vision of described events and for this reason it is necessary to handle with this information with a critical distance. However, this subjectivity is also valuable for quality of the research. The contribution aims to present results of narrative interviews made in connection to the transfer of Germans from the Svitavy region and show its potential in geographical research.
