Description Aim of this anthropological study is to evaluate changes in morphology of hip joint in human skeletal population of Znojmo-Hradiště. Paleopathological research was conducted on early mediaeval adult skeletal remains dated from 9th to 10th century and it's concerned especially with detection of congenital and developmental defects and infectious diseases. Based on morphoscopic methods there are not revealed cases of congenital dysplasia of hip joint in stage of luxation in sample of 37 skeletons examined. Nevertheless, the tendency to subluxation is noticed. Bone defects as coxa vara and coxa valga are discovered based on measurements of neck-shaft angles of femora. Sockets of hip joint are measured in three dimensions and results of statistical evaluation show the significant differences between the human skeletal population of Znojmo-Hradiště and the similar Slavonic population of Břeclav-Pohansko.
