Description | Monitoring of amino acids is important to understand biological processes. However, one of the most sensitive analyses employing laser-induced fluorescence detection is hindered by the fact that the most amino acids do not possess intrinsic fluorescence. As a result, amino acids were derivatized with naphthalene-2,3-dicarboxaldehyde and sodium cyanide. Method development for the baseline separation of the fluorescent products is described. |
