Description The author, in this contribution, is presenting the results his own research - analyzing and comparing the romantic approach of Ľ. Štúr to the contemporary western man (G. Lipovetsky's research). Štúr´s romanticism lied in the setting of the whole and of the commonalty over the individual. On the contrary, the current western romanticism sets the individual. This individual, due to not engaging himself, not only loses control over the world where the democracy is weakening, but also loses it over his privacy - where he fails in being happy. So, his deeper engaging would bring the strenthening of the democracy, also wider possibilities of self - realization and happiness, plus solutions to ecological issues.
