Description Glycobiochemistry group focuses on two groups of sugar-related proteins: glycosyltransferases and lectins. Glycosyltransferases are enzymes catalyzing synthesis of glycoconjugates (saccharides, lipids, proteins). Lectins are sugar-binding proteins. Both classes of proteins are involved in plethora of both physiological and pathological processes. Our group focuses mainly on glycosyltransferases and lectins from pathogenic organisms. We use broad range of methods to characterize these proteins, their properties and their involvement in pathology.
