Description This year's geographic conference was held on October 12 and 13, 2017 in the newly renovated premises of the RUV Gallery and other rooms of the Faculty of Education MU. The central theme of the conference was the Useful Geography: from Research to Practice. The whole two-day conference was given a whole new dimension. Compared to the traditional concept of conferences divided into plenary sessions and subsequent sections, the organizers decided to try out a new model of organization. Four speakers from the field of cartography, useful geography and geography education were invited to the plenary session. After that classical meetings in sections, often divided on the fields of interest of geographers (physical, humane, didactic, cartographic etc.), were "replaced" by panel discussions. Three panels were selected: physico-geographic, socio-economic and regional-geographic. All three panels ran parallel. Other activities in the first day of the conference were focused on meetings in smaller collectives (eg posters presentations, meetings of the Czech Geographical Society Committee South Moravia or project meeting for the INTERREG SK-CZ project). The conference was attended by a total of 90 people, including organizers and 28 foreign guests.
