Description National identity plays in the present globalized world still an important and specific role in the life of people. It is reflected among others in museums, in which it is constructed and presented also in present days. Paper will describe partial results of chosen international researches dealing with national identity in museums and put the theme in the context of the constructivist learning theories. They play an important role in the environment of the modern museum and in its educational activites. These theories may have a specific role also in research plans since they point out to the fact that construction of national identity is a process conditioned by many factors. These are not only particular socio-cultural conditions of a country, museum, its expositions and employees, but also a visitor and his/her personality. Paper will therefore introduce an issue of the constructivist learning theories and possible of use of the theories not only in the museum but also in the museum research. Paper will concentrate on how both phenomena may be examined and what role is played in them by museum narrative, educational plan of the museum and also visitor´s experience.
