Description | The chapter deals with how people living alone organize their time and space. The “solist”, people who live alone, constitute a very diverse group: people who remain voluntarily, those who live by their own circumstances, who can only partially or at all not influence them. The chapter is divided into two parts that focus on two different aspects of the time-space experience of soloists: In its first part the chapter focuses on their geography in the minimal scale of an apartment or house. In the second part, on the experience of urban space, which is often seen by soloists as a complementary component of their home: the city and the flats are a unique continuum. This section also deals with the organization of soloists' time, which is strongly related to the work they perform. The text shows that the key issue for soloists is not the organization of space, but the organization of their time. |
