Description | The paper presented partial results of an ongoing project investigating Czech university students' academic writing with focus on building text coherence, namely the so-called theme zone, its patterning and realizations in a corpus of diploma thesis written by students of English at the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University. The main findings indicate that Czech students rely on unmarked theme patterns and use frequently textual themes while interpersonal themes expressing stance occur considerably less frequently. |
