Description The paper summarizes the results of the research which deals with the solving strategies of gifted fourth and fifth graders at primary schools while solving word problems that can be solved by equations. These word problems can be solved in both arithmetic and algebraic way. The ways of solving tasks by gifted pupils and some of the frequent mistakes are the focus of this paper.
