| Description | The interdisciplinary volume focuses on various material aspects of Czech broadside ballads, discussing the output of printing houses operating in four Czech and Moravian municipalities (Olomouc, Litomyšl, Chrudim, Jihlava) between the 1740s and 1860s. The book contains in-depth studies on the history of particular printing shops, the paper of the analysed broadside ballad printings, their format, typefaces, and illustrations (particularly woodcuts), as well as on their orthography, false imprints, and on the reception and preservation of the printings in the form of blocks. |
