Description The paper introduces selected aspects of developing self-assessment skills of student teachers. More specifically, it will focus on the analysis of self-assessment comments given by future teachers of German as a foreign language. A specifically created intervention for the development of self-assessment focused on speaking in a foreign language will be introduced, and the results of the analysis of self-assessment comments will be presented. The results indicate shared characteristics of self-assessment comments in each stage of the controlled development of self-assessment skills.
