Description | A novel technique for analysis of volatile organic compounds based on chemical ionization using Au+ ions in gas phase was presented. Au+ ions were generated by laser desorption of gold nanolayer in commercial sub-atmospheric (subAP) MALDI/ESI ion source. Volatiles were introduced by ESI capillary and formed predominantly ion-molecule complexes with general composition [Au+2M]+. Sup-ppb sensitivity of the technique was demostrated as well as detection of volatiles from freshly cut vegetables. |
