Description | In the introduction, the interplay between political ruptures and the development of the education system is examined from diverse perspectives and with a focus on different countries within our research scope. As part of the introduction, Wilfried Göttlicher's contribution is positioned to address the relationship between political ruptures and changes in the school system from a fundamental perspective. In doing so, he discusses research findings from countries beyond the scope of our book. Subsequently, three contributions follow, concentrating on countries in East Central Europe, specifically the Czech Republic and Slovakia. These contributions delve into the reforms in the education systems of these countries since 1989/90. The second main section of our book centers on changes in subject-specific teaching. In the concluding section, the thematic and geographical scope broadens to include Yugoslavia and Ukraine. The final chapters provide an assessment of developments in the context of the Accountability Paradigm. |
