Description Introduction of Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Engineering systems into the sector of engineering industry has significantly reduced the time-to market and cost involved within the design lifecycle of engineering products. Despite the extensive availability of step-by-step manuals and tutorials to learn such tools, familiarization of students at schools to use these software tools often has not been effectively addressed. The stated regards mainly the secondary vocational schools which still pay quiet a great attention to making the drawings and calculations by hand. In the paper the authors briefly describe a methodology they proposed to innovate engineering education at secondary vocational schools in the field of CAD/CAE systems, and subsequently in a more detail they analyse teachers´ experiences and opinions on the use of the proposed methodology, and to it designed teaching materials, in their teaching practice.
