Description The research study analysed a deliberately selected sample of parents and their expectations and perceptions of what today’s schools should look like. The data was collected through a self -developed questionnaire, which included two open -ended questions where parents described what they thought the ideal school looked like and what they found objectionable about today’s school. The results of these open -ended questions are presented in this paper. Framework analysis was used to analyse the statements of the open -ended questions. In their statements, the areas of psychosocial conditions and the fulfilment of the principles of wellbeing were the most prominent. On the other hand, the parents’ dissatisfaction was mostly directed towards the area of education, i.e. teaching content and assessment, staffing conditions and material equipment of schools.
