Description | This study critically examines the inclusive education reforms in Slovakia, highlighting the persistent influence of medical deficit, expertocratic, and neoliberal discourses despite recent legislative changes. The 2023 amendment to the School Act introduced a three-tiered system of support measures aimed at moving away from deficit-based models. However, the reliance on diagnostic categories for funding and the continued segregation of students with special educational needs (SEN) indicate that exclusionary practices remain entrenched. Utilising critical policy analysis, the research reveals how these discourses shape educational policies, often prioritising cost-efficiency and expert control over genuine inclusivity, thereby perpetuating educational disparities. |
