Description The chapter focuses on the differences in competitiveness of the elections of (lower houses) parliaments and presidents in 15 European countries. Using Nagayama diagrams, the differences are graphically illustrated. Subsequently, an auxiliary coefficient expressing the degree of agreement in competitiveness is determined. This coefficient is compared with three quantifications of the powers of the head of state. The research indicates an increase in the similarity of competitiveness with increasing strength of the powers of the head of state using Siaroff and Elgie's quantification. However, this relationship is not clear-cut as the result is biased by the strong confirmation of the relationship for one country studied. When it is removed from the set, the indicated trend weakens to disappears.
