Description There are cities that are beautiful. There are cities that are officially beautiful and whose historical and cultural value is not in doubt, as they are recognised as monuments (conservation areas), some even have the status of "UNESCO site". Telč is such a town. The paper is based on data obtained within the project "At Home in a UNESCO City" (TL02000409), especially on the analysis of the promotional materials of the city, which were created within the project. However, this is further developed by the analysis of pictorial publications about the town and historical and contemporary tourist guides, and supplemented by conclusions based on observations made at the Zachariáš of Hradec Square in Telč (not only within the framework of the implementation of the mentioned project). In particular, I will focus on the aestheticization of the square in these materials and its possible impact on everyday life in this place. What happens to a place that is reduced in its representation to a historical, and moreover Renaissance (!), space? Who uses it and how? The question is not whether the representation of a place, in this case a square, is distorting, the question is in which direction the image is bent and how this happens and what it tells us about ordinary non-beautiful life.
