Description | Curatorial preparation and realization of the exhibition "Horizon, Barely" by artists Jan Stolín, Petra Vlachynská and Jaroslav Prokeš in OFF/FORMAT gallery in Brno (10 January - 13 February 2024). The exhibition presented the perception of the phenomenon of horizon through various ways of artistic thinking, from drawing to sound and light installation. The form of artistic expression is uniquely positioned to access the complexity of its happening. On the one hand, the horizon can be understood as the presence of a boundary to which we relate in our physical and mental space. This enables us to think and understand our own position in the world. On the other hand, this fundamental feature of closure is always linked to the contradictory movement of opening: the horizon always gives the possibility of crossing it, pointing to something that is not yet visible and known. And perhaps it will remain unseen and unrecognized, even though it constitutes the other side of the space we already inhabit. |
