Description This study aimed to quantify physical activity intensity among Czech preschoolers aged 2–5 years using heart rate monitoring. The research, involving 63 preschool children, utilized the Polar Team2 system to measure heart rate during structured lessons and outdoor play. Results showed that the average heart rate during physical activity ranged from 130 to 150 bpm, indicating moderate intensity, with the highest rates observed during outdoor free play (150 bpm), classified as vigorous-intensity. Younger children and girls were more likely to engage in vigorous activity. The study highlights the importance of daily outdoor play to promote vigorous physical activity, crucial for children’s health and development.
